IAMGOLD owns 90% of the Essakane gold mine and wanted to perform an integrity audit of the oil facilities used to supply the mine. The purpose was to check the facility’s compliance with international standards to ensure work safety and minimize environmental risks.

   1. ## Our experts' solutions
    
    To carry out the mandate, BBA set up a team with specialized expertise that is recognized in the oil sector. The purpose of the integrity audit was to check the physical condition of the facilities as well as their design, construction and operation based on current international standards.
    
    The audit centred on four areas: two heavy fuel oil storage areas, a light fuel oil storage area and a vehicle fueling station.
    
    The audit included a review and an analysis of the facility’s mechanical, electrical and civil aspects, instrumentation and control, piping, fire protection, process and an environmental review. In total, 936 points were analyzed and 90 recommendations were made.
