BBA was hired to develop a field-to-boardroom solution for a potential acquisition of a privately-owned distribution system. The project aimed to identify key areas of concern within the system and identify valuable assets for the client to inform their purchase decision. To meet these objectives, BBA developed a visual inspection guide to standardize condition assessments and performed comprehensive tests and visual inspections on all assets, some of which were first installed in the 1960s.

   1. ## Our experts' solutions

Given the lack of an asset registry and missing demographics and inspection data, BBA used its in-house inspection forms based on our best-practice health index formulation. A data analyst worked with a field inspector to collect the data in the field, ensuring real-time consistency checks back at the office. This approach provided a seamless field-to-boardroom solution, guaranteeing all information was accurate and complete.

BBA provided the client with a detailed database of every asset in scope. This included digital nameplates, health index results, inspection results, remaining life assessment, valuation and photos. This information was invaluable for the potential acquisition and formed the basis for future infrastructure management.
