Maurice Brisson appointed to the Order of Canada

Mont-Saint-Hilaire (Québec), January 9, 2020 – Governor General Julie Payette unveiled new appointments to the Order of Canada in December, including that of Maurice Brisson, a founding member of BBA, in recognition of his proven expertise in designing electrification plans and for his philanthropic contribution to promoting education in electrical engineering. One of the country’s most prestigious civilian honours, the Order of Canada pays tribute to people whose services transform our society; whose innovations stimulate our imagination; and whose compassion unites our communities.

  1. Maurice Brisson has been a member of the BBA team since 1980 and is recognized for his unique expertise in medium- and high-voltage power systems. Throughout his career, spanning nearly 40 years, Mr. Brisson has also mentored more than 30 junior engineers who have had the opportunity to participate in major projects around the world and to hone their skills. The engineers he has taken under his wing appreciate his many qualities, including his great accessibility, his boundless generosity, his openness, his curiosity and his exceptional knowledge.

    Mr. Brisson is a great philanthropist and created the Maurice Brisson Scholarship in 2009 to support the mission of his alma mater, Polytechnique Montréal, and to promote university education in engineering. In 2015, he donated $500,000 to the same institution to create the Maurice Brisson Scholarship Fund.
