Last year, BBA and its partners won the [Visionary Award](https://www.bba.ca/news/bba-wins-the-visionary-award-at-the-grands-prix-du-g%C3%A9nie-conseil-qu%C3%A9b%C3%A9cois-gala) at the *Grands Prix du génie-conseil québécois* for the same project. 1. “This project’s success comes from a desire to act for the environment, innovation and, above all, cooperation. It's extremely motivating to receive such recognition from colleagues around the world who are working to achieve the United Nations' sustainable development goals. It encourages us to push the boundaries of engineering even further so that, together, we can build a sustainable future,” says Jérôme Pelletier, President and CEO of BBA. The winning project involved installing and operating the sustainable aviation fuel pilot plant, which is designed to convert industrial carbon emissions into a sustainable aviation fuel with 80% fewer GHG effects than conventional kerosene. This is the first project to be undertaken in Québec to capture and convert CO2 into a usable product. The CO2 is captured and recovered by the Polytechnique Montréal plant and then sent to the SAF+ pilot plant in Eastern Montréal to be converted into sustainable fuel. BBA was mandated to provide engineering, project management and construction management to install the pilot plant as well as operate the Polytechnique Montréal CO2 capture plant and the pilot plant. The award was presented at a ceremony in Singapore on September 12 and was accepted on our behalf by John D. Gamble, President and CEO of the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of Canada. 2.
