01 Jun 2026In some projects, the main challenge isn’t technical complexity. It’s the schedule. When schedules become critical, engineering teams need to shift their mindset: make decisions earlier, accept uncertainty and rely on shared performance. As such, engineering becomes a process of making choices, striking compromises and managing risks, both technical and human. Below are three key questions addressed by Hugo Careau, P.Eng., Decarbonization, and Ulric Chayer, P.Eng., Department Manager, Mechanical Engineering. When the schedule is the client’s top priority

27 Feb 2023"Growing up in Iran with a family background in biology and medicine, it was expected of me to pursue a profession as a medical doctor. However, my passion for math and physics, as well as my desire to create safe environments, drew me to the field of civil engineering. I wanted to learn how to design structures that could withstand any external conditions and provide safety for those inside. Despite the societal pressure to conform to traditional gender roles, my parents encouraged me to pursue my interests and supported my decision to study civil engineering. They firmly believed that their daughters should have the freedom to pursue their dreams without limitations.Ingenious women – Mina Shahraki-

24 Nov 2022''I’m a very analytical person, but I also listen to my instincts a lot, and by trusting myself, I’ve been able to make the important decisions that have shaped my career. If I think something’s wrong, I stop, ask questions and sometimes, take a step back so I can start again... just like in innovation! If, on the other hand, I feel good about it, I go for it. So far, it’s served me well!Ingenious women – Mélanie Chouinard-

19 Sep 2022Energy and Chemical ProcessesAmmonia (NH3) has evolved from a key fertilizer, that historically helped alleviate past global famines, to becoming the most reliable and carbon-free hydrogen (H2) carrier that can be used for storing any colour hydrogen (grey, blue or green).Ammonia revisited: carbon-free fertilizer, hydrogen carrier and fuel—from alleviating famines to contributing to a carbon free planet-
