The name of the network refers both to the scientific principle of osmosis and the expression of becoming one with someone or with one’s environment by osmosis. This conveys the notion of sharing, transferring ideas and knowledge, and of pulling together. In addition to its goal of influencing diversity-related decisions at BBA, the Osmosis Network wants to raise employee awareness of various topics by organizing four major networking activities to stimulate discussion. The topics will include mental workload and work performance; women and site work; work-life balance. BBA is determined to increase diversity and inclusion within its ranks and has five guiding principles to achieve this: lead teams with an inclusive spirit, inspiring openness, respect and trust; listen to team members; learn about different approaches; adapt work methods; and promote an inclusive culture. In addition to implementing an action plan to build an inclusive culture where everyone can fit in, BBA considers it important to support the various initiatives proposed by its teams, such as creating the Osmosis Network. Moreover, BBA is proud to have joined Engineer’s Canada in its goal to have 30% of women on its teams and in leadership positions by 2030.
