jul 2019Minería y metalurgiaOre loading pockets are used at strip mining operation sites. They generally comprise a dumping station, the top of which is equipped with a protective bumper, a dumping tunnel dug into the rock itself, and an apron pan feeder installed at the bottom of the tunnel. Trucks unload the crude ore into the pit, which feeds the material into an apron pan feeder at the bottom of the loading pocket. This controls the flow of ore and transfers it into train cars that transport the raw material to the crusher, by train or an equivalent means of transportation, which may collect the ore from multiple loading pockets.Structural expertise in ore loading pockets -

jun 2019Otras IndustriasAt BBA, we sometimes work on systems that operate erratically and, as a result, don’t offer the expected performance. Low throughput, frequent shutdowns, premature failure, high electrical or raw materials consumption: the issues can vary. When discussions ensue, the system’s supplier is often blamed for not meeting the request. But the question that must be asked is: was the request clear? Were the design criteria properly defined to ensure the system would be optimally integrated? In short, did the supplier have everything required to properly meet the client’s needs?Successfully integrate your new systems!-

abr 2019Energía Eléctrica y RenovablesIn Canada, as in other northern countries, both industrial and infrastructure projects must often be carried out in harsh winter conditions. Structures installed in these conditions can be subject to cyclical loads from dynamic or mobile load impacts. In this context, the right structural steel must be determined in the design phase to ensure the structure’s integrity. By choosing the right type and grade of steel, structural elements will be protected against the brittle fracture that can occur in winter. This blog post clarifies the reasons for choosing WT steel and examines the phenomenon of brittle fracture by steel. In a northern environment—apart from ductility, a basic mechanical property that enables steel to undergo significant deformation before rupturing—impact strength at low temperatures is a critical property. The steel must be resilient to brittle failure. WT steel is steel with improved toughness. This type of steel must meet specific testing requirements, based on the daily mean minimum temperature in the location where it is to be used.WT steel: When should you use it?-

feb 2019Minería y metalurgiaThe frenetic pace of exploration programs and the tight deadlines between taking measurements and sending data to resource geologists can cause multiple database errors, which result in loss of time and money, and sometimes schedule delays. Most of these errors could have been easily identified and corrected as soon as the project started. Moreover, drilling data is essential for creating a robust geological model and for providing an unbiased estimate of mineral resources. This data must therefore be sufficiently rigorous, reliable and complete to comply with the NI 43-101 standard. Here are some examples of a few easily achievable steps to help you validate your data. How to get rid of errors in your drilling database in 25 questions
