23 mar 2023Energía eléctrica y renovablesWorkers who are exposed to high noise levels for long periods of time will suffer irreversible hearing damage (tinnitus, deafness). Although noise exposure limits exist, Québec’s Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) estimates that hearing disorders related to working conditions are constantly increasing, which represents 86% of occupational diseases in 2021,1 compared to 70% in 2019. It’s crucial for all employers to inform their employees of the harmful, long-term effects of noise, to focus on prevention and to implement the necessary mechanisms to comply with the noise standards set out in the Regulation respecting occupational health and safety. But what target values must we apply? When and how must we assess the noise levels workers are exposed to? And is there a tracking record of previous assessments?Noise exposure in the workplace: changes coming soon in Québec -

22 dic 2022''This year, I went to an underground mine for the first time. At 260 metres below ground, I realized that just a year earlier, I was on top of a wind turbine. It’s extraordinary work; I’m involved in all types of projects. Power system studies have always been my thing because I love racking my brain to figure out how to make things work that don’t.Ingenious Women – Hassiba Lkoun-

21 jul 2022“I find it normal to see women in engineering. It’s such interesting and wonderful work; why wouldn’t women want to do it, too? As a civil engineer, above all, I’m fascinated by structural aesthetics and complexity. I love studying the behaviour of structures in detail and thinking about the aspects that will ensure that future occupants are comfortable and safe.Ingenious women – Valérie Houle-
