04 may 2020Energía eléctrica y renovablesOne of the major challenges associated with remote sites is the difficulty of ensuring qualified personnel are present to ensure optimal operation. Lack of strong technical leadership can compromise operational performance. This deficiency could have greater consequences during commissioning. As such, it may appear worthwhile to use specialized data analysis software that automates performance monitoring and problem detection.Operating remotely: intelligent distributed optimization (IdO) to get the most from your technological tools -

16 abr 2020Minería y metalurgiaIn 2021, new standards for maximum concentrations of harmful substances that may be released into the environment will take effect under the Metal and Diamond Mining Effluent Regulations [1]. Many mining clients are opting for water treatment methods and technologies that can be easily adapted to these new standards. Given the current situation, clients prefer technologies that are both efficient and economically viable. This article explores passive water treatment technologies which have tangible benefits in terms of capital costs, but which also could involve risks that need to be considered.Passive water treatment in the mining sector-

21 feb 2020Energía eléctrica y renovablesAccording to an article published on the Canada News website, “Cybersecurity: Canadian businesses don’t feel the urge to act”, nearly half of Canadian companies have not seen fit to strengthen their IT security in 2019. However, this article refers only to information technology (IT) security, an area where practices are much more advanced than those of operational technology (OT), which is still in its infancy in terms of industrial security.Beyond IT. Think industrial cybersecurity.-

27 ene 2020Biocombustibles, petróleo y gasThe purpose of this new design methodology is to improve on technology selection and equipment specification for bulk liquid/liquid phase separation at the “Primary Separation” stage of a process. It is critical for the primary separation unit to meet its target separation efficiency, since poor performance will impact negatively on any downstream treatment systems (i.e., secondary, tertiary separation stages) and possibly result in non-compliance with stream specifications. The two liquid phases are identified as “Light” (i.e., lower density liquid) and “Heavy” (i.e., higher density liquid) in Figure 1 since this procedure applies to any two immiscible liquids with different densities. In many cases the light phase is liquid hydrocarbon (i.e., oil) and the heavy phase is aqueous (i.e., water) and therefore this system is used as an example in the material below.Improved methodology for liquid/liquid separation design -

27 nov 2019Minería y metalurgiaIn most cases, when we receive a client database to perform 3D modelling or run an NI43-101 compliant resource estimate (or JORC), the data is incomplete or may contain errors. The following are examples of steps you can take before sending your database to modelling or resource geologists, either internally or to an independent firm to save time. How to properly prepare your data for a mineral resource estimate? -
